What happened to Michael Schumacher?
Michael Schumacher’s legendary Formula One career ended dramatically in 2013 when, while skiing on the alpine slopes of Switzerland, he fell and sustained a severe brain injury. The racer, who turns 54 on January 3, has since chosen to address fans via his family, primarily his wife Corinna, who provides the most frequent updates. She recently spoke about her husband as she accepted an award on his behalf, telling attendees how the driver has fared since his accident nearly a decade ago.
Is Michael Schumacher Alive?
Schumacher is still alive because of his wife, according to Ferrari team boss turned FIA chief Jean Todt.
She succeeded in keeping him from death while shouldering significant responsibility, he said.
He told Bild: “I’ve spent a lot of time with Corinna since Michael had his serious skiing accident on December 29, 2013. She is a great woman and runs the family.
“She hadn’t expected that. It happened suddenly and she had no choice. But she does it very well. I trust her, she trusts me.
Michael Schumacher Net worth
Michael Schumacher is a former German Formula One race car driver who has a net worth of $600 million. Michael Schumacher is one of just a handful of athletes who earned more than $1 billion during their career. At the peak of his career he made $80-$100 million per year. Of that, he earned $10 million a year to wear a Shell hat during public appearances.
He began racing at a very early age and is today considered to be the most successful Formula One driver of all time. His career spanned from 1991 to 2006 with Jordan Benetton, and Ferrari. Michael’s younger brother Ralf Schumacher also had a highly successful racing career.
Michael Schumacher Health Update
Former French racing driver Phillipe Streiff – who has been in a wheelchair since a crash in Brazil in 1989 – was quoted on the German’s condition.
“Schumacher is better, but everything is relative,” Streiff said. “He can’t speak. He is paralyzed and is in a wheelchair. He has problems with memory and speech. As soon as he is with his family again, he will be able to recover faster, but it will be difficult.”
Schumacher was released from his rehabilitation facility in Switzerland in September to carry on his recovery at home.
“Thanks to the work of his doctors and the cooperation of Corinna, who wanted him to survive, he survived – but with consequences.
“And right now you are fighting the consequences. We hope that things will slowly but surely improve.”
Mick Schumacher uploaded an emotional photograph of himself alongside his iconic father Michael on social media.
The son of the legendary seven-time world champion uploaded the classic photo to mark the F1 legend’s 54th birthday. Schumacher is still recovering from the horrific brain injury he suffered during a skiing accident in the French Alps since 2013.
Due to the Schumacher family’s desire to keep any news regarding his recovery as private as possible, there have been very little updates about the condition he is currently in. However, that has not stopped the 23-year-old from expressing undying love for his father.
