Auckland International Airport has been closed by flooding, hours after a wharf Aeroplane megahit and damaged several runway lights causing major detainments to breakouts.
A statement from the field before on Friday said the damage to the runway lights was “ impacting ” transnational departures and large domestic breakouts.
The lights were fixed eventually before 930 pm but by also wide- spread flooding in the terminal forced field operation to close.
Flight disruptions are ongoing at Auckland Airport (AKL) Jan. 27 due to a runway closure after a plane landing at the airport damaged several runway lights. Reports indicate that flight delays are ongoing due to the incident. Officials have cleared the runway and are assessing the damages. It is unclear when normal flight operations will resume.

“He plays rain or shine unless it becomes unsafe for the crew or fans,” his promoter said.
However, the promoter later confirmed the concert was cancelled.
“Auckland, due to unsafe weather conditions tonight’s Elton John concert at Mt Smart Stadium has been cancelled. The team is assessing things and will keep informing everyone with further updates in due course.”
Attendees heard the advertisement over the loudspeakers with a visual on the stage reading” This is an evacuation; please follow the direction of venue staff to the nearest exit.”
It comes as the megacity is presently being hit by torrential rain, with MetService issuing several severe rainfall warnings for the region.
One concertgoer told 1News,” It’s so ridiculous; why not cancel it before.”
” It’s been like this all day; I do not understand why they called it off so late,” another said.
“ It took us about four hours to get then,” a woman leaving the musicale said.
The cancellation also comes after Auckland Transport came under fire for recommending concertgoers drive to the gig amid train cancellations.
It’s not the first time Elton John has had to cancel a show in Auckland- his 2021 show was canned due to the Covid- 19 epidemic.
In 2020 he’d to cut his Auckland show suddenly due to suffering with” walking pneumonia”.
